Professional Experience
My professional experience in the telecommunications and transportation industries has included research and development, systems engineering and project management, operations management and information systems, product and marketing management, and sales and account management responsibilities. I was a research scientist at General Motors Research Labs in the transportation and logistics department, applying operations management analysis to assess the impact of changes in GM operating strategies and conditions external to GM. At Bellcore (Bell Labs) I was a lead systems engineer and project manager in the telecommunications network operations management and operations systems (OS, i.e., information systems) area, defining strategic plans and requirements for the communications systems and services of the telephone companies. I am the author of numerous telecommunications and operations management information systems industry planning and requirements standards documents published in the public domain.
At Lucent Technologies, I continued working in this area assuming technical leadership for the systems engineering and project management of AT&T’s Local Number Portability (LNP) network operations management and OS information systems project. Additional advancement at Lucent included a product and marketing management position in Lucent’s wireless offer management group focused on their portfolio of OS and IN (Intelligent Network) information systems product offers and solutions. This was followed by an account management sales and marketing position in Lucent’s global account management division within their global service providers’ business unit, developing, implementing and executing the sales and program management strategy for Lucent’s network operations management information systems (OSs) and professional services, having responsibility for all aspects of the direct sales relationship with the customer.
